Quick Edit is a built-in WordPress feature that lets you make small, fast changes to a post or page — title, status, categories, tags — directly from the main posts or pages list, without needing to open the full editor at all.
What You Can Change in Quick Edit
- Title and permalink slug
- Publish date
- Categories and tags
- Publish status — draft, published, or pending review
- Comment and pingback settings
Accessing Quick Edit
Hovering over any post or page in the main WordPress list view reveals a "Quick Edit" link beneath its title — clicking it opens a small inline form directly in the list, without navigating away to a separate page.
When It's Genuinely Useful
- Making a fast batch of small metadata changes across several posts
- Fixing a typo in a title without opening the entire editing interface
- Quickly reassigning a post's category or tags
- Adjusting a post's status without loading its full content
It's not intended for editing actual content — for anything beyond these quick metadata tweaks, the full post editor remains the right tool for the job.
